CREATE PARTITIONS
- To install WifiWay we need two partitions, one for the operative system, and the other for the swap exchange file.
- We run the Shell and we write:
cfdisk
- It will appear a window, where we would do the partitions in a very simple way. We will choose the
New option.
- For moving through the options, we will use the right and left key of the keyboard, the up and down keys will be used for choosing the partitions.
- In the next screen we will choose
Primary.
- Now we have to choose size, for one partition of
6gb (this is what I use), we have to choose
5900.00 if your disk has a different size change the value to the correct one, only have in mind that you have to leave
512mb for the
swap partition.
- In the next one, we will answer
Beginning.
- Now, we choose the line that says
Pri/Log Free Space and then
New.
- We accept all until we arrive here, then we choose
Type and we accept it all.
- The result should be this, and we should have to use the option
Write.
- It will ask us confirmation, we write
yes.
- Now we choose
Quit.
- And we write:
fdisk -1
- Finally we has format to the partitions that we have created, Sda1 and sda2 should be changed for the names that fdisk -l has given us, and without closing the Shell we write this:
- For the partition ext3 of the operative sistem:
mkfs –t ext3 /dev/sda1
- For the partition of the swap exchange:
mkswap /dev/sda2
- Reboot and we run again with the LiveCD.

K/System/Wifiway install menu and we choose

- Will open an assistant where we have to choose the partition

- A DOS window will open and it will ask us the setup style, and we choose the first one:
simple.
- Then it will ask us for the GRUB screen resolution, and we leave it as it is, and we press

- Now it will ask us fot the partition where we want to install the GRUB, and we write

- Now we will have to choose the type of installation, and we will have to choose the third option

- The next question will be which our principal Hard Disk is, we leave it in blank and we press

- When the setup finishes, we can install the

K/System/Wifiway install/ Install GRUB – MBR menu.
- We check that in the

- The last thing we have to do is to edit the
menu.lst file, so we enter to the
root folder pressing the icon that it’s in the desktop and we go to
/mnt/sda1/boot/grub and we search for the
menu.lst file and we open it.
- We search for the
title wifiway 1.x line and we edit it so it puts
title WifiWay 1.0 beta2, this is a change related to the start screen selection aspect.
- We close KWrite and we
save the changes.
- Installation is complete, turn off WifiWay.
- Once we have WifiWay installed in the hard disk, when it starts, it will not be necessary to select our time zone neither the keyboard codification.
- We have to setup the BIOS so it startup from the hard disk and/or extract the CD from the lector and boot the PC.
- Started the PC and in a few seconds after, we should see this.
- After this, where we write
startx.
Note: because of a
bug in the installer, WifiWay will advise us of some
warnings. To fix them it’s very easy, immediately after starting it, we open the
Shell and we write these commands:
rm /usr/var/run/dbus/pid
rm /usr/var/run/hald/pid
- Now and in an optional way we will override the
Floppy unit.
- In the console that we are running, we write:
kwrite /etc/fstab
- The fstab file will open and we search for the line where puts:
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy vfat noauto, noatime, users, suid, dev, exec 0 0 # AutoUpdate
- We edit it for leaving it like this:
#/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy vfat noauto, noatime, users, suid, dev, exec 0 0 # AutoUpdate
- We close KWrite and we
save the changes.
- At the end we write
reboot.
