i posted this question a 4 weeks ago with no sucksess on all betas 1-18 bluetooth has just not worked for me i get told liburys missing , missing adapter ,now nothing i just want to send files to my phone useing bluetooth i checked and i have installed:
1)blueman
2)bluez)
3)bluez-firmware
4)bluez-hcidump
5)bluez-utils
6)libbluedevil
i have no bluez icon in tray menu and in system settings blutooth menu is empty how to i get this working i been without it so long now its bugging me anyone one no whats wrong?
my computer: dell inspiron 6400 broadcom drivers i think
it all worked fine in windows how to get this working pls

if you no have the bluetooth icon on system try , i think because your device is not recognized.
on a terminal try
lspci or lsusb
to find the hardware is recongnized or not

hi i just installed beta 20 i tyred hciconfig -a i get nothing and with -A i get hciconfig: invalid option -- 'A'

your bluetooth device are recognized ?
this is the first.
if its not , ... nothing to do , whit hciconfig.
y say some times, ... when yor device are recogniced, you can see the bluetooth icon on systema tray , in the same place to kmix , clock and other system functions.

nothing in the system tray when i had the last beta installed i done update and started update lots of things with admins menu and in the end i the bluetooth menu had extra menus like file transfer adapter and 1 other one but it said no adapter found and in the past when blutooth had meus in older betas it said liburys missing
in qtgz manager it shows i have these installed: blueman, bluez,blue-firmware,bluezhcid,libbluedevil,
but in system settings under bluetooth nothing is there
but i do have bluetooth installed in my computer as when i had windows bluetooth works so i have an adapter but linux cant reconize it must need firmware or something what do you think may be the problem? do you have blue tooth working on your pc?

USUARIONUEVO had said you to try lspci o lsusb ( if it is internal or usb device) to see if WifiSlax recognise your bluetooth adapter, if not, there is nothingo to do, you won't be able to use it. Some hardware can be recognised by Windows but not by other S.O.

Hello everyone.
There is something wrong. ???
In gnome-bluettoth Deepin works well, only in Linux Mint KDE (KDE-bluedevil yes no blueman) works perfect.
In windows 8 works too (with drivers lenovo) in dell ^-^

you are using a laptop ??
have a combination keys tu turn on/off wireless ?
its posible try de combination keys to see get device "on" ?

wifislax -->> harware-tools
have 2 tools to see the radio transfer is on/off on devices
i think you blueth is off because system see ande recognized , load firmware ..all is strange.

yes i am useing laptop it is dell inspiron 6400 well on the laptop it has some led lights wifi one and bluetooth one plus num lock caps lock the problem i have is there is speshal keys to turn on/off wireless and it works but i cant see a key for the bluetooth at the moment i am useing the wireless internet conection so the wifi light is on but science i have started to use wifislax the bluetooth light has never worked but i just remember that in windows i had to turn on bluetooth adapter to work bluetooth could this be the problem then switching it if how?

this list your wifi / bluetooth devices and say device stats
software blocked
hardare bloaked
in my case bluetooth adapter are an usb device and no buttons to block / unblock this is the reason my device works perfect.

i think you need play whit rfkill ;)
rfkill have options to block/unblock devices , good luck.

i have just notest when i power down i have big list of laptop mode tools and they all say permition denied and it lists bluetooth ther do you thing that might be the problem?

you can try , ... but i think is not a problem.
laptop-mode
is a tool , .. he put power saver on not required hardware to save battery.
if no want this ...
go to
/etc/rc.d/
see around a file whit the name laptop-mode
and rename to
laptop-mode-z or add some character to the filename ..this cause the system not start this tool.
