Hi all,

Am having a problem with WifiSlax 3.1 that is installed on usb.
(Used tutorial - http://estallenodeestrellas.blogspot.com/2007/09/wifislax-31-en-usb.html)

It boots fine, all works as intended, Until I Log Off.

I get a blank screen and cant see anything. Sometimes the screen is black in colour, I type "startx" and this loads up a new session. Other times I get a screen that is dull greenish and the system is completely non responsive.

Have tried typing "poweroff" thinking it would safely shut down but it does nothing.

Just wondering if anybody would know a simple explanation for why Wifislax 3.1 on USB would not allow Logging off and Shut down.

I use a Toshiba U300 with internal ipw3945 and after I manually hold in On/Off to turn off my system, it wont turn back on without connecting A/C power, I can only assume this is due to system being incorrectly un-mounted.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hola Seraser, you are 100% corregir, that worked great!!  Angry

Didnt think it would be the command, as I have used "poweroff" with other distros successfully.

Would be interested in finding out why it shows blank screen, is this is normal? Anyways problem solved.

Your a star. Thanks very much for your rapid response.

Seraser, I have found the cause of the blank screen problem!

I am posting so that anyone else experiencing the same problem can have an idea on the solution.

The sole purpose that I had for Wifislax was to audit my wireless network, I was booting and then loading the IPW3945 injection module.

I came to realise that if I didn't load the injection module there wasn't a blank screen on Log Off.

So by unloading the module (Through selecting the original module in the Wifislax chipset menu) I get the normal "waiting for X server to shut down".

Edit:! "This was a false positive... still getting the blank screen but as Seraser rightly said "poweroff -f" is the solution. Have took Seraser's advice further and installed WifiWay 1.0 onto HDD, its grrrr888. Thanks again amigo.

I didn't think it would be necessary to unload modules to successfully poweroff, but through this I have become less of a spoon-fed windows user and that little bit more less of a slackware linux noob!

I now have a new problem! LOL! But it is not relevant to this post so I will do some Googling and then create a new post if I can't fix... something about "chroot: cannot run command `/cleanup' : No such file or directory.

Its funny you say, I have Wifiway 1.0 final on a Live CD.

However, for some strange reason I have got the best results ever from Wifislax 3.1.

Am I crazy? Have tried BT3 aswell, and still get better results from the distro in question.

Is wifiway in your opinion better? Maybe I use it wrong.

If wifiway is improvement on wifislax3.1 will have to get onto a usb to try, as I have only tried it from the CD.
